Weeeellll... He's not wrong. :D The Templar Order in AC, by this point, is a bit more Athiest than anything, what with canon discoveries and whatnot, and Shay may fall back on Catholic roots, like prayers to ward off evil, and such-like, but religion rarely factors.

And Shay, himself, isn't really interested in controlling the world.
